Can not connect to a sound driver using vmware 5.5.1build 19175 on 2.6.9-11.ELsmp I can not find /dev/dsp, /dev/sound, /dev/audio. There is a dev/snd but all entries give error msg: inappro. ioctl for device. The sound for the linux sys works.

I used the following command and now have sound on the vmware side using windows 2000 prof.
mknod -m 600 audio c 14 4
and the dir. and file I used for the 'edit virtual machine settings' was:
