vmware virtual networking....

well i want to setup a virtual lan across the different OS ...xp,fedora core1
software allocates different ip address to virtual nic's
is there any mechanism of having setting a lan among them and connect them through a proxy server.....
well manage virtual network concept given by them.....really aint something dont really manage....?? if any guide?
