VmWare Tools - XFree86 Problem.

I'm installing both Suse 8.2 and RedHat 9 under VmWare 4.0.0 under winXP, but I still get the same error while trying to install VmWare Tools.

It installs smootly, and when I should run ./vmware-config-tools.pl
it says:

Quote:

This configuration program is to be executed out of an XFree86 session. Please shut down all instances of XFree86.

Execution Aborted.
Pleeeeaaase... can anybody help?

None of VMware Tools's pre-built vmhgfs modules is suitable for your running kernel. Do you want to try build the vmhgfs module for your system (you need to have a C compiler installed) [yes]
If i say no -> execution aborted.
If i say YES, it tells me there is no C compiler curenntly installed... find it manually? no. -> execution aborted.

If i soon am not able to do this shit, i'm gonna install it on a clear partition!

I'm going to install a C copiler now and try again...

rrrrrrrrr!

Quote:

What is the location of the directory of the C header files that match your running kernel? [/usr/src/linux/include]
When I press enter, the message repeats itself.. until i press Ctrl-C.

I don't think Vmware supports RedHat 9 yet, ha?

Obviously you not only have to install
a C compiler but also the Linux source,
or at least the hearders ;)

Tink
