VMware Question
 

This is my second post on this forums. I am new to the Linux world am I'm trying to learn as much as I can. I was told the best way to figure it out is to try it, so I went out and got VWmware workstation so that I don't need to build a whole separate computer to install/uninstall the distros.

My computer spec's are in that thread as well, but I'm wondering if I need to install the VMware on my storage drive of 2 TB instead of my main boot SSD drive since it's only 128 gigs and has about 15% - 20% free. I have little knowledge on VMware as well so I don't know if I can install it on my SSD drive and then run/install the distro to the storage drive.

Any helpful info would be much appreciated.

Ok I did some research and figured everything out. I ran into an issue while trying to install RHEL 7. It brings up the install text, in which the first option is:

" To install or upgrade a system running Red Hat Linux 3.0.3 or later in graphical mode, press the <ENTER> key.

I press the enter key, it goes through what looks like a decompression phase of the files, then a blue screen briefly pops up then it goes blank, and stays black.

any ideas on what is causing this? Or how to fix it?

You shouldn't use RHEL, or bettere if you have RHEL you have also paid for the support so ask them!
You may use centos wich is the free version of RHEL.

What version of Centos do you recommend? I've seen a lot of people on this site that use it.

Get last version:
64bit version
32bit
Do you need to learn RHEL or get certification ? If not I would suggest you a different distribution. Maybe an easier one like mint or debian. I would also say Slackware but this is going to be flame starting.

I don't need to learn anything. This is more for learning purposes and just in case. There might be some work with Linux not sure what flavor or anything. This way I can have a little knowledge about it at least before hand, so when and If I do need it I'll have a small bit of general knowledge. I downloaded a version of CentOS i'm going to try, I also downloaded Ubuntu.
I should have said I am not required to know/learn anything specific. It's more for a basic knowledge that I can expand on.
