Vmware and Linux

Hi,
I want to install Linux on my windows xp using Vmware. I have tried with Fedora but the Desktop environment does not launch, what works is just command line.
Is there any version of linux which is compatible with vmware?

Thanks,

Hi, and welcome to LQ!

Chances are you'll have the same quarrel with
any distro ... try running Xconfigurator (or what-
ever the tool in FC is called) from your command-
line ...

If that fails, try XFree86 -configure (or xorg if that
is was FC uses).

Cheers,
Tink

Hmmm.. FC is not yet included on any vmware release... I doubt if X works on VM.. but it worth trying.. just give it.. im running RH 8 over VM and got no problem with X... :)
