Just to be clear, you will not be able to update your RHEL install without a subscription. None of the third party repos carry ANY of the core packages of the OS. So the basic question is do you want to install now or after you have invested more time in an OS that you will have to do a fresh install on in order to get any updates? Best advice is to switch as soon as possible and save yourself as much work as possible.

Hi Frrossk,
These are the two files in the /etc/yum.repos.d directory : a) adobe-linux-i386.repo b) rhel-debuginfo.repo And while trying 'yum install vlc', I get error that VLC is not available. I think that I am missing something minor, and thats why I am getting these problems. ================================================== Hi Lazlow , I will be doing to do the same, but before that I need to check all the possibilities that should not let me change the OS. It is a machine in LAN, so I don't think that re-installation of OS will be easy. But I will check that as well, and if thats the last resolution then I will be doing that. Regards, Kapil |
