I tried to play a video in vlc, video worked perfect, but sound didn't, any thought why? I tried playing with the settings, but no luck. I'm running Ubuntu 8.04. You tube works, so does mplayer, but not vlc, which I prefer, and if you can advise a better multmedia player, and suggestions are welcome.
jack error: failed to connect to JACK server
oss error: cannot open audio device (/dev/dsp)
main error: couldn't find a filter for the conversion
main error: couldn't create audio output pipeline
is this the error you get ?
what sound server are you using , is said firefox windows still open ? or another app that could have control like rythmbox or whatever
So I unthinkingly started vlc to watch a movie, I didn't even remember i not working, and it did work, so I think it might have been the codec for that file, but then I would have gotten a notice for a missing codec, but I didn't. So I'm a little confused, but I'll come back if I need any more help. Thanks.
