VLC is unable to open the MRL
 

I cannot get vlc to access internet services ie:freebox, icecast radio directory, etc.

cannot get a pls file work.

how did you install vlc on Ubuntu 12.04 ( guessing it is ubuntu 12.04 )

It was working before upgrading VLC to VLC media player 2.0.6 Twoflower

well how did you upgrade it ?
using apt-get , synaptic , or some other way

I am able to play local music, and view dvd movies.

Have installed vlc by command line, in the past and use. Also I have use synaptic package manager to load other vlc files.

sudo apt-get install vlc vlc-plugin-pulse mozilla-plugin-vlc

is there a config file in vlc that I could 'play' with?

or do I have a firewall problem with vlc accessing the net?

(I think big brother does not like me)
