VLC for TV

I'm trying to bring in TV on VLC player inside Ubuntu „Feisty“. When I enter „scan /usr/share/doc/dvb-utils/examples/scan/dvb-t/de-Frankfurt > ~/channels.conf“ terminal returns „scanning /usr/share/doc/dvb-utils/examples/scan/dvb-t/de-Frankfurt

using '/dev/dvb/adapter0/frontend0' and '/dev/dvb/adapter0/demux0'

main:2247: FATAL: failed to open '/dev/dvb/adapter0/frontend0': 2 No such file or directory
“...../dev/dvb doesn't exist. I can bring in TV using TVTime but VLC is my preference. Could somebody help out a newbie to Linux, here, please? Thanks.
