VLC closing down when trying to play video file
 

I have recently installed vlc on my box including the required codecs from the plf repository, however when I try to play a video file, it just closes down no warning nothing.


Note: the files are located on a separate box running ubuntu, but I dont think the problem is located there becose when i try to play mp3 files it works with no problems at all, this only happens when I try to play video files.

I am running mandriva 2009.0 pwp

Run VLC from a terminal and post any error messages it displays when it shuts down.

No one has face this probleme before on here?? I searched a few other forums aslo, and there were 2 people had the exact same problem, but the thread was never solved, I hope its not going to be the case for me on here.

I would try to look into the vlc options. Try changing the video output to or from X11 video to something else (opengl or wharever there's available).

Spot on, thanks a lot, it worked. The video output was actually on "default", and I changed it "X11 video output" and now it works.
