vlc 0.8.4a and mandriva LE 2005

I have followed the exact steps to install codecs and vlc media player and everything was working beautifully for the first time of my life. All libraries were "./configure" "make" "make install" properly. then After the libraries, i was instructed to go to untar vlc player and then

./configure

(which worked fine)
and then

make

In the vlc package there isnt any make file found. Let me know what other info you need to solve this little problem i am having. thanks
