I am using a really old monitro, one which I don't know the refresh rates. After a fresh install I am able start X-Windows just fine. After running xf86config and getting to the resolution settings, I saw that I could say "yes" to a virtual screen, where the X-Server scrolls over on a desktop of a larger resolution. Seeing as how after I run xf86config, everything is funky (due to my lack of refresh rates), I am asking if there's a way to enable this 'virtual desktop' thing without running the xf86config program.

If clearification is needed, lemme know.

Its either run the xfconfig again or edit the XF86Config file and finding the setting of a virtual display in there. Usually though I wouldn't recommend doing that file by hand unless you know what your doing.
