Viruses

I'm already fairly certain that it's impossible, but, just for the sake of completeness... is it at all possible for my box to be afflicted with the sobig windows virus? I'm running a dual-boot between win2k and RH9 Linux. I'm a member of several listservs, and I keep seeing my name on emails that are clearly sobig in origin... yet, I ran a full scan of my harddrive, in windows, with two different virus scanners (Norton and AVG), both fully updated - and they reported that I was virus free. I also noticed that some of those emails were sent at physically impossible times, like when my computer was turned off for the night. Thanks for any help.

Ahhh... nevermind. I found more info on that evil bastard virus from another source.

I think that one of the sobig's "features" was to fake the email senders. At least this happened to me - I could certainly not be infected, but still my name was written as a sender in many cases.

sobig will (if I'm not mistaken) use the addresses from the addressbook of infected people to send mails that are infected to other people ... so yes, someone who has your email address in his or her addressbook and got infected may have caused (involuntary of course) your email address to appear as the sender ...
