Created a snapshot of os,pressed start, as it was starting up I clicked two 'x''s up within the virtualbox os that was booting, then it stalling i.e. black screen waited a bit nothing happened, clicked shutdown top menu, then, 'X' to close, when those two failed to shut virtualbox I went into terminal typed xkill, virtualbox closed however when I restarted it said the os in question was running, I clicked show waited nothing booted, used xkill again.
The virtual box os was working fine before all this.
That said, there's probably more elegant ways to do that.
I'm sure virtualbox itself has the ability, from GUI or command line.
Once again: read the docs!
