Virtualbox Guest Additions

Hello. Some distros have virtualbox guest additions in it's repositories. Is it better to install guest additions from the repos or use virtualbox's own guest additions.

On Slackware --Current, I usually install and update VirtualBox using the *.run script "for all distros" from the VirtualBox website, so I usually install VBGuestAdditions and PUEL the same way.

If you have installed VB from your distro's repos, you should likely install Guest Additions and PUEL the same way, in the interest of consistency.

Yes, use the "Guest Additions" that VirtualBox supplies, and which it updates from time to time.

I used the virtualbox guest additions from the arch repos. So far, arch is working fine.

You can use either the files from Oracle or the distro specific files, but don't mix them together, except in the case of extension packs, which you can only obtain from Oracle. I find the distro specific virtualbox equally reliable to the files directly from Oracle.
