Are you using some web site tutorial to install Elementary? If so, could you post a link. The link below has pretty detailed instructions so compare it to what you did.

This might be why it is suggested NOT to install Elementary on virtual software.

I don't think linux-man reads any documentation before installing any distro or software. Seems to rely on LQ members to do his thinking for him.

No I am not using a tutorial site as I have installed linux on vb before, so have no link.

It's identical except I checked EFI box as per Michaelk suggestion in post #2, he has Elementary installed on vb with EFI checked.

Is it safe to download from?
Which commands do I need to type in terminal to do the 'un-7z'? I already have vb on my computer.
