Virtual Machine configuration

Hello, All- I have just started posting here. I joined a while ago and would like to make friends here as well as ask and answer more questions as I go along.

I have downloaded Oracle VM and would like to know how to configure Fedora so it does not ask to download to the host drive on my computer? I also have Ubuntu and do not have this issue. I understand that Fedora is a server distribution of Linux and I enjoy working with it as well as Ubuntu.

Belated welcome to LinuxQuestions.

I assume you are posting about updates but if not more information is required. It depends on how they are configured but both operating systems will regularly provide updates and Ubuntu should be doing it also.

Both Fedora and Ubuntu can be installed / configured as a server and a desktop.

I have installed Ubuntu Linux on my Mac and it is configured from an .iso file using Oracle VM. No issues with Ubuntu. Fedora, each time I turn the virtual machine with Fedora, it is constantly giving me the option to install to hard drive or try Fedora. Fedora is installed from an .iso just like Ubuntu.

You sure it is still not booting from ISO?

The ISO file was not removed from the Virtual CD after Fedora was installed.

Shutdown the Fedora liveCD and start VirtualBox Manager. Go into the storage settings for the Fedora VM and click on the CD icon under storage tree then the cd icon under attributes. Select remove image from virtual disk. When you start the Fedora VM it should boot from the virtual disk drive.

Is optical still top in boot order? But 1st, when you start guestVM,
note the screen giving F12 option, to select device. Experiment

p.s.: A wildSideTrip: to focus on just the kernel&basicCLI, try this 7MB.iso
(choose 96M Vram, no .vdi, add a bridged NIC; run telnetd -l /bin/sh

then, UbuHost can telnet into it; it doesn't even have a /etc/passwd

Techjunkie, I think the others are correct in that you are still booting from the iso. I am not sure if that is what you want it to do. Do you simply want to run Fedora from an ISO file and just get rid of the first boot choice?
