Virtual Device maintenance Fedora core 7 - system-config-network

Context: At startup of our application we rebuild the ifcfg-eth0:<n>
device set. The problem is if a power failure occurs the device set remains intact ( maybe not a problem for some... . We need to clear the virtual device set, as at each startup the virtual IP set could be different.

1. For each device entry there appears to be 3 files created.

- etc/sysconfig/networking/devices/
- etc/sysconfig/networking/profiles/defaults
- etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/

Why? No sym links three separate files. What are there roles.

2. Why does the system-config-network UI not have multi-select? We could then go to each appliance and jave a single user interaction clear the unwanted devices. Now it's a 1 by 1 process.

Thanks for reading and considering...
