For school we have to install in virtual box so, why do some cmds not work with this type of install.

you need to write better posts than that to get help I'm afraid. what are "some commands" what is "this type" of install? Virtualbox is not an operating system, so I'm guess you've forgotten to tell us you're running some version of Linux within Virtualbox? What version?

and a please / thank you would be nice too.
