VIM customization - Colors not working as expected

Hi!

I'm setting up a new server, and I'm trying to install MiniVim (a SublimeText like .vimrc).
I have this .vimrc on two other computer (my personal laptop, and another server).

The problem is that it doesn't work well in my new server: the colors are not well applied.
Here a screenshot of what I get in my new server (on the left) and in the old one (on the right).

I feel that the color color application is not working well.
I tried many solution on the Internet (how to enable 256 colors in term instead of 8), but it still not working. And I really have no idea of why..

I'm not sure of which other informations could be useful to help you to diagnose the issue.

Thanks!

Hi Tonio-, and welcome to LQ.

This may seem like a bizarre suggestion but have you tried adjusting the brightness and contrast on the new server's screen? Or, alternatively, swapping over screens with the old server? This could be a screen problem.

Hi Hydrurga, thanks for the answer!

The screenshot I sent was from the same computer over ssh (and so the same screen), so I think it's not linked.

Ah, well, there goes that theory.

How do the two servers differ (operating system-wise etc)?

Have you tried copying the old server's MiniVim config file over to the new one?

The two systems are Debian Jessie.
The old one is a VPS, so I don't have details about it.
The new one is a Proxmox's container that I manage.

I tried to copy the conf file, same issue (the screen is with the same conf file).
That's why I'm thinking about an issue with the terminal / colors.

Thanks again for your help!

i suppose the output on the right is the desired output.
it looks to me like the colors are ok, and it's all up to bold attributes.

sorry i can't be more specific.

Put this in your .vimrc set t_Co=256 http://vim.wikia.com/wiki/256_colors_in_vim

@ondoho, yes the right is the target. I agree with you, there is a bold issue, but the colors too are not the good ones.

@perfectsecurity this line is already in the .vimrc file, and if I type it in vim, it doesn't change anything

I tried to find a solution to this problem, but I'm still stuck.

I verified all the config between all my installation, they are the same. I checked the terminal used: same too.
I'm really confused on this. Does anyone else have an idea ?
