Viewing .jpg pictures from Compact Flash

I am able to mount the compact flash card just fine. When I launch gThumb viewer to see the images, nothing is seen. The filename is there (image001.jpg) but no image is seen. I have done this before with no problems. Anybody with any ideas and help would be most welcome. I am running RedHat 9.0.
