Question Viewing animated .gif pictures in what application/program?

I'm looking for an application/program that will open and view animated .gif pictures.
I compile them in GIMP, but need to view them before using as backgrounds for various projects (digital scrapbooking, dvds etc)

Please remember to explain simply - I'm still newbie

If my memory serves correctly, gimp has a gif-player filter somewhere, in the filters menu probably.

Also you can use mplayer.

Or, as suggested above, any web browser.

@ repo - I'm not looking for something in the browser. I'm looking for a program like in Windows that allows me to view and use the animated picture on my computer without opening in a browser

Hi i92guboj

I'll try and figure gimp out. I've only started using the layers etc in it.
