video unable to play...

hello,

i am new to linux and am using redhat enterprise linux 4, i want to know which video player should i download from the internet so that i can watch videos of defferent formats like .dat, .avi etc.
By default i have real player 10 but that can only play audio of mp3 format.

Also i want to know which version of wine software should I install on my system.

Thanks a lot (in advance)
