Video Playback problem

Pls help

Having a hard time playing back my video files. Already downloaded mplayer binaries but will not install in my system.

where did you get the binaries (link)?

what procedure are you using to install the binaries?

what error messages do you get?

what distro?

Procedure: 1. Just clicking the downloaded binaries
2. rpm -Uvh name of the rpm

Error Message:1. No message, just it didnt install because i cant still play back my video file.
2. It says the file is a directory or something to that effect

Distro: RedHat 9.0
