video not played on utube
 

hello all
when i open utube site and try to play
any video in rhel 4, using konqueror web browser,it
does not play although i have installed the flash player for it. A message comes like this.

"Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Adobe's Flash Player. Get the latest Flash player".

The most common problem is what the message says:
1. You don't have flash installed or
2. javascript is turned off
How do you know that flash is correctly installed? Does it work on other sites?
Try http://www.adobe.com
Does it display correctly?

Use mozilla firefox for adobe Flash content. While konquerorer is built using a mozilla base, it just doesn't seem to handle the proprietary formats like firefox does.

Sorry to disagree but I have no difficulty with konqueror and Flash (proprietary version). Everything works correctly on youtube and the other flash sites I've visited.

From the OP's error messages I would suspect that flash has not been installed correctly.

I had this problem too... solved it by downgrading flashplayer to version 9.
Flashplayer 9 can be downloaded from http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get...p9_archive.zip
To install flash 9 for konqueror only (keeping flash 10 for Mozilla/Iceweasel or whatever where it works properly), all that is necessary is to extract the libflashplayer.so file from the archive, put it in a directory in your ~home folder and set konqueror plugin to point to it instead of the usual /lib/Mozilla/plugins directory.
