Video Editing Questions

Hi,

I'm having a bit of a problem here... I'm working on a video presentation with a friend involving pictures and videos. I'm trying to find a video editing program for Linux (commercial or not) that is relatively easy to use (not a requirement I guess, if enough functionality is present), and that can easily interface with Windows video editing software, tha tmy friend will be using.

We will need the ability to superimpose audio tracks (eg. music/mp3 files) onto the video, as well as the ability to create transitions between pictures (fades, anything like that). Splicing and joining are also going to be used extensively.

Any suggestions would be very welcome. If necessary, a recommendation of windows software that works under Wine is fine. We are able to capture the videos already - we just need editing capability.

Thanks ...

The thing is, the programs listed on that site don't really do what I want (namely, creating a movie that is a combination of still pictures (eg. JPG+GIF), videos, and sound). Are there any suggestions, or is there something I've missed?

None of these programs are able to use STILL JPEGS GIFS, etc. Please read what I need - I already have all these programs and realized that they don't support them.

If they do in fact allow editing with JPGs or GIFs, and I've missed this feature, please let me know.

Here's what I've tried so far
Lives
Kino
Cinelerra
VegasVideo (found a cd of it lying around earlier. Doesn't work with wine)

Here's a rephrasing of my question I guess ... maybe I wasn't clear before :)
Are there any video editors compatible with Linux or Wine that support using JPGs and GIFs and transitions between them?

Thanks.

If you are just looking to turn images into an mpeg, with transitions betwwen the pics then a very simple app like DigiKam will do.

You would need the main package and the plugins along with whatever depencies it needs. I have created mpeg files with it before. You would then be able to do whatever you wanted with the mpeg in one of the video editors.
