I did a fresh install of RH9 on an old PIII machine I have. Everything goes ok until it trys to boot for the first time after the install.
The video card I'm using is an old Diamond Multimedia Stealth 64.
I get the following error messages on the screen:
Can't start the X Server
Would you like to view X Server output to diagnose?
Log file: "/var/log/XFree.86.0.log",
Using config file: "/etc/X11/XF86Config"
(WW)Warning: S3: No matching device section for instance (BusID PCI:0:9:0)Found
(From here it looks like it searches all of the PCI slots because there are numerous entries with just the BusId changed.)
I did try XF86Config. It returns the same error messages as before. How do I try VESA and S3 Generic?
I did run ddcprobe and my card was returned correct, however the monitor shows as no screen. It was detected along with the video card right during the install process.
Distribution: NetBSD x86; Slackware Linsux i686 (A billion kilometers away)
