Video card for Kubuntu

Hi everyone,
I will start soon using Linux and I want to know what is the best brand of videocard to use in my pc; I now have a GeForce GT620 and on what I read on forums is that GeForce gives a lot of trouble. Can anyone give good advice what I should do or change?

Take a look at LQ's Hardware Compatibility List. (click HCL on the bar at the top.)

Nvidia gives binary drivers for their cards for Linux, and they work great (requires a bit of configuration, but not much.) If you don't want that route, there's always the open driver, though it doesn't work as well.

Just my two cents.

I have an Nvidia 520 and never had a problem with any of the distros. When problems come in it is usually the newer cards that have an issue until the Nvidia folks get things sorted. After you get Kubuntu installed you just need to install the additional drivers

Hi...

Welcome to the forum

I've had the opposite experience, Nvidia is one of the best brands to use in Linux as I find their support to be among the best. I personally would keep what you have.

Regards...
