Video 4 Linux

Hello, I am suffering a small problem

I have installed a webcam and when I run "lsmod" it brings up the following videodev:-

videodev 9921 2 ov511,saa7134

when I try and run anything that requires a vid input such as Gnome videoconferencing, the only option for my video input is the saa7134 which is a TV input card and not yet configured, my ov511 webcam does not come up as an input option - any help gratefully recieved

when I use Desktop/preferences/more preferences/multimedia systems selector the video4linux and videoforlinux2 options for video input come up with a dialog box saying "Failed to construct test pipeline for 'Video for Linux (v4l)'"

I am so confused it is not funny anymore

Paul

Check if your webcam is supported in linux. There is a page on this, search google for it, I lost track of it. My webcam was not supported by linux (no drivers were written yet)
