vi syntax on default for cygwin


where do I set the "syntax on" to be a default for vi on cygwin? I create a file call vimrc.vim under C:\cygwin\usr\share\vim\vim73\ folder, with "syntax on" in it. However, it does not work.. please help

I've never actually used cygwin myself, but in *nix generally, its a 'hidden' file '.vimrc' in the user's home dir.
If cygwin has an equiv 'home dir', try that, or maybe check the docs over at http://www.vim.org/

Yes. I fixed it.. .vimrc at the home dir. THanks
