Is there another editor that functions similar to dos edit.com? I have been learning more and more abut vi lately and I am finding it eaiser to edit files but its still a pita.

in console I usually install jed. It's pretty easy to use. Then there's pico and a few others.

vi is not as hard as most make it out to be... it is pretty powerful... however pico is more like edit.com from dos.

I would still recommend dealing with the slight learning curve that vi has. It is well worth knowing
