Very New to This - What Version Am I Running?

We are going through some growing pains and I am taking on some new responsibilities.

At least a few of our servers are running Red Hat Linux, but I do not know what version or how to find out what version. Someone mentioned Enterprise and Application Server as if they are both OSs, but something tells me that's not right.

How do I find out what version we are running?

I cannot tell you the exact filename since I'm not running Red Hat, but in the folder /etc there should be a file called DISTRIBUTION-release or DISTRIBUTION-version (insert your name here) or maybe even just "version".
