I have a 486,100mhz, 2, 500mb hds,32 ram. Which of these two will work best for me. First Linux install! Thanks

Hi alb

If your thinking in terms of using a GUI with those specs - the machine, if it runs at all, will only crawl along - you could try running in a lighter mode though.

You could always have a look through Distrowatch to see if there's any other distros - (just an idea)

Click here to go to Distrowatch

I have learned I can't use kde or gnome but icewm may work ok. I know vector has icewm set as default desktop.

Just an idea - you could always try both - YourLinux.com sells an array of distributions for next to nothing - Vector £2, Peanut £2
