Vector Linux v5.8 SoHo

Hi

I am looking to install Vector Linux 5.8 SoHo. When I install my wired DSL does not work?

? Even here at the Newbie Place you need to explain your problems in greater detail, but anyway...

- The setup should have led you through some basic network setup questions were you maybe chose the wrong option? You were asked for example wether you have a DHCP router or using fix IP's (like some direct modem connections do). Refer to the users manual of your router or the setup manual from your internet provider to find out whether you have to connect with a selected IP.

- Although VectorLinux detects quit a lot of network adapters, your card is maybe one of those which isn't detectable. There are several databases in the net were you can find out about whether your card is supportd or not. E.g. Opensuse users can refer to http://en.opensuse.org/HCL/Network_Adapters_%28Wired%29

Vector Linux v5.8 SoHo

Hi

Thanks for the help.
This is how I set-up PCLinuxOS 2007 and Suse Linux 10.1 Remastered.
I am using an Ethornet m5263 controller.
First page, AutoIP (bootp/DHCP).
Next page, Check the get DNS servers from DHCP and assign host name from DHCP.
Next page, Start connection at boot.
This is when I run into trouble.
If I ask to set up now I lose my DSL connection. If I say no to set up at this time I keep the connection.
With Vector Linux All I get is A BEEP and lose connection.
Thanks
