/var/audit/ Files needed to gzip,will it be safe and what are its consequences


I wanted to zip following files for some reason as they are very old and occupying disk space.Will It be safe.

nets@dc1fcpe05)/var/audit# ll
total 575

If the files are not in use directly or used as reference, yes. To determine that you need to know what application generated these files.

thanks Unspwan , i am not aware about the application.but do you think zipping then cause any issue for this application

Making a decision based on what you or I "guess", "think" or "worry" about makes no sense. Aim for factual information instead.

Then find out from somebody who does. From your customer(s) for example.
