Unhappy /var/adm/sa does compressing sadd files

Hello Guys ,

I have compressed a file in /var/adm/sa

-rw-r--r-- 1 sys sys 1089777 Feb 5 23:55 sa05.Z
-rw-r--r-- 1 sys sys 1089931 Feb 6 23:55 sa06.Z
-rw-r--r-- 1 sys sys 2827152 Feb 7 23:55 sa07
-rw-r--r-- 1 sys sys 2827152 Feb 8 23:55 sa08
-rw-r--r-- 1 sys sys 2823312 Feb 9 23:55 sa09
-rw-r--r-- 1 sys sys 2824992 Feb 10 23:55 sa10

for reducing disk space in /var ,I compressed the above 2 files will it cause any problem and i can see 22 files.
Files from 05 February 2013 - 27 February 2013.

Can anybody help on this how it works and what are its main causes.

The causes are being investigated in your other 2 threads.

No, it will not cause any problem. It's a very common practice to archive (by creating tar and then zip) to reduce the file system size.

Code:
~$ tar -cvf archivename.tar file1 file2 file3...
~$ gzip archivename.tar
OR
~$ tar -zcvf archivename.tar file1 file2 file3...
