utility that lets me see whether I have hardware video accel or rendering

Memory fails at my age

There is a utility that dumps umpteen lines of stuff - one searches that stuff with grep with some word that related to video processing and sees whether you have hardware accel or software rendering.

Would someone be kind enough to remind me the utility and the search word?

Thanaks in advance

Dont know.. but just an idea.
With google "video acceleration linux" or ".. module", you can find for intel here few information about it and which modules makes it.
So, I would
a) search my card name/model
b) search what module support the acceleration of it (lib32-intel-dri and others for intel cards in above link)
c) see if it is enabled in the xorg.conf (the Xorg.0.log should indicate it) in your pc
Just few thoughts. Hopefully it helps.
