UTF-8 problem in irssi (Fedora, Konsole)
I don't know where this question actually belongs - if it's in the wrong forum, the please move it. The subject may not be too accurate, either, though.
Ok. So, the problem is that I can't use ä, ä or å. I can write them normally, but everybody else in IRC don't see them or seem them as something else, and when somebody else uses those, I see them as blocks or I don't see them at all. I'm using Fedora Core 1 and Konsole. /set term_type utf-8 only allows me to see those characters written by me, others are still shown as something else. |
Hi and welcome to Linux questions! :)
You might want to check what your LC_CTYPE is set as, as well as other locale-related environment variables. I usually have LC_CTYPE=sv_SE and LANG=en_US to get an English system but with full support for the additional Swedish characters. Håkan |
I've found a couple of instructions to edit /etc/sysconfig/i18n and tried them, they don't help. I can see all utf-8 characters perfectly fine, people in IRC can't, so do I have to do something with irssi to make them work?
