Using WINE Cant enter half life cd key
 

Sup pplz.

I've just installed the Dist version of WINE on my Mandrake 9.2

Installed Half-Life. and the cd key prompt won't let me type my cd key...
When I ALT+TAB it doesn't show the key prompt :(

Just wondering if neone else has had the same problem and found a fix.

make sure the wine window is the only open windows on the desktop.
that forces the window to take focus.

Ya that's what i figured however it didn't work.

When i attempt to type in the key it searches the desktop.... but I can click the "ok" and "cancel" links on the key prompt window....Some werid shiznit.

took care of that issue and arrose a new one :-D

call half like like so......

wine /path/to/halflife.exe -- -console

or to me more specific this command is how to run it :
wine hl.exe -- hl.exe -console

add whatever other options you wish after console, such as screen width/height, windowed, etc, etc ...

you can do that ?
well, both ways have the same end result... except mine saves ware n tare on the keyboard.. :p

put wine into desktop mode, this will fix that problem

I don't know if it's wine or Half life but it's VERY unstable. crashes while opening almost everything in half life. however, single player works fine except the walls kinda appear/disassapeare lol.... :tisk:

I dont mean to bring up a dead post but I am having the exact same problem as described here. I tried changing the 'Managed' and 'DXGrab' config keys, but I still cant type the key into the field.

Anyone have any ideas? Thanx.

got it working,

It was a stupid mistake on my part ( i was editing the wrong user's wine config file). After changing those flags in the one i meant to change, it worked. Thanks!
