Using WINE
 

When using WINE do I install the program I want to use under WINE or do I have the program installed under Windows on the Windows partition and I just access the program in Linux through WINE? In other words can I just bootup to SuSE and download a windows program then install it through WINE and run it or how does that work. I know that not all programs will run, I just want to know how WINE works. Thanks

You can do it both ways. Using the installation from your windows HD and you can also install it on your linux partition in a fake windows folder.

Hello i have just installed wine now i can access windows "notpad" but i want to be able to access "msword" to access notepad i just type "wine notepad.exe" but i cant see anything called "msword.exe"
is there any one there who has done this that could help me out please im not even sure if i can use wine to get word
any help please

hello again iv found my directory for word i type "word6.exe" and i get this error message

There are not enough file handles. Set files=20 in the CONFIG.SYS file.

You can't use all programs via wine. I'd search a tutorial on MSOffice if it's there (I think it is cause I read it should work via wine) but better would probably check out openoffice.org or staroffice.
