Question using VMware player for first time to use Red Hat Fedora Core 5 on WinXP Home

I have just downloaded and installed VMware Player from their website.

I am looking to install Red Hat Fedora Core 5 from my 'bordeaux-i386' DVD disk.

What i am posting to enquire about is what are the problems I could come across? Is it safe to do this? How do i start going about it? Do i load up into Windows.....start VMware player.....then put in my bordeaux DVD??

The important thing is, other people use the machine, so it is important I do not overwrite the WindowsXP Home OS that is already installed.

Any help appreciated.

first of all vmware player, cannot be used to install an os. you would need vmware workstation.
second, nothing gets effected when you use vmware, its all safe, its a virtual environment. even if you mess up nothing bad is going to happen.
