Using terminal to talk to tty1

I have just installed Slackware 10 and I need to be able to talk to a TA connected to TTY1. Can I use the terminal program and how?

I am not very sure what you are talking about? What do you mean with 'TA'?

If you are trying to send some text to the first consoleterminal, try:

echo "test" > /dev/tty0

If you have the intention of taking control of applications running at a terminal from another location, take a look at the screen utility...
