Using Terminal commands in Linux
 

I now have Mandrake 9.2 installed and can do a number of things quite easily but there is one area that I can not fully come to terms with.
When using the Terminal window I often get the response unknown command and numerous other error responses. This is obviously my problem and not the OS and I wondered if anyone could give me a link to somewhere that will show me how to come to grips with this problem starting from opening the Tertminal window and not assuming that I am in the right directory etc.
Any advice very much appreciated.
