Check /var/cache/apt/archives/ . That's where mine go.

This is an old thread, but exactly what I am researching... with an additional quesiton:

Synaptic wants to install 5 OpenOffice updates that total around 60MB. I used a friend's DSL (since I'm on dialup) to download these files from the Ubuntu repository server that Synaptic points to. It took a while to find the files, but I finally found them in the /pool directory. The files I downloaded are the same name & version numbers that Synaptic listed. I chose the ones that end with "..._all.deb", from the section for my processor type and Ubuntu version.

Now there's the question of how do I make Synaptic check them, so I can know the stuff I downloaded is correct and complete?

Thanks for any direction here...

Here are the actual files I downloaded on the other computer:
openoffice.org_1.1.3-8ubuntu2.3_all.deb
openoffice.org-bin_1.1.3-8ubuntu2.3_i386.deb
openoffice.org-gtk-gnome_1.1.3-8ubuntu2.3_i386.deb
openoffice.org-l10n-en_1.1.3-8ubuntu2.3_all.deb
openoffice.org-thesaurus-en-us_1.1.3-8ubuntu2.3_all.deb
