using set in shell pro

when i m using
set 'who am i ' or any command with that
while execuitng that script m not gettin the desired results the commnd in the ''is not gettin executed
as this statement
echo $1

is not giving the mane of the curruntly user
whta is the right way to use that

What are you trying to achieve? The result of "who am i"
in a variable? What shell are you using?

i got the job done i ws using " insted of `


but i m not able to hear a beep when i m using
echo "\07"

n no bold or reverse characters using 033/[7m or 1m etc .
