using rpm to install of prgms

I am very new to linux and apologize in advance if my questions seem too simple.

I have Fedora Core 3 up and running. Now I want to install the other cd's that came with the dist.

I have bought 2 books )waste of money( and I need the exact steps to install from the cd. I believe there is a wildcard or something so that I don't have to name each of the 488 files on the cd.

I have trired this, logged in as root: mount /mnt/cdrom and get the message "can't find /mnt/cdrom/ in etc/fstab/ or etc/mtab"

Any help would be appreciated!!!

For the fstab question, open it in your text editor of choice and see what your cd rom is mounted as.

you don't want to install with a wildcard.. what good is blindy install 488 packages???!?! just log in as root and run "redhat-configure-packages" to get a gui to let to add or remove components. the right CD will be requested at each stage.
