using ROM BIOS Interrupts

Hello,
I'am supposed to write a piece of code that determines the memory size of a computer. i tried int86(); function in windows only to find out that it wont compile and also it would run only in the DOS environment.Please suggest a linux equivalent of this function or any other solution that might allow me to write and run the code in windows without ofcourse installing VMware ,DOS and borland c++ compilers.
Thanks.

Hi,

Welcome to LQ!

(Linux is Not Windows) 'Refers to the GNU/Linux OS and various Free & Open-Source Software (FOSS) projects under the catch-all name of "Linux".

You would need to use the compiler & linker for a M$ based system if a executable is to be run on same.

For a Gnu/Linux system you can look at '/proc/meminfo';
Code:
~# cat /proc/meminfo
which would provide the information.
