Using KDE but see gnome processes

Yep, I installed both to see which I like best (RH8, by the way). I like KDE, I guess. But when KDE is the default, should I still see the following gnome related processes?

gnome-settings-daemon --oaf-actiroot
gnome-panel --sm-client-id defauroot

well RH uses the gnome display manager by default, these may be parts of that. but i could be wrong. not sure why the gnome panel would be running.
