Using ftp in squid

I cant access ftp sites through squid. The error message box appears:
"The folder "..." is read only. Because the proxy server is not setup to allow full access. When I close this message box the Timeout error is retrived. I also used Mozilla Firefox but I still can't access ftp sites. What should I do? Thanks
