Using Fedora Core 4

Hi.

I'm new to Linux, and am planning to use my old Gateway computer to run the Fedora Core 4 OS and would like to use this server to run a web hosting / MUD hosting service.

After looking over a few webpages, some forum entries and e-mails back and forth to people, it still confuses me.

From what I read on one site that explains setting up the Fedora Core 4, it says I can use Fedora to do web-hosting, domain hosting, have e-mail addresses, etc ... but then I found ISPConfig.org.

Should I get and install the ISPConfig? Is there a google search term to look for "extras" that I should look into getting to use?? Would getting ISPConfig be good to have??

I'd like to also use the server that has like a windows interface ... if thats possible to do and use it to host websites / MUD games.

Any suggestions? Places to read ...

I already have 2 domain names I'd like to point to my server, I am getting a 2nd IP address to focus on the server as well.

Thank You in Advance.

You can easily run webservers, dns, email(multiple domains) without ISPConfig, I host quite a few sites without it. I think ISPConfig makes it easier to maintain for people with less experience. There is a fedora tutorial on setting everything up that you want using ISPConfig. I guess it would matter how comfortable you are with *nix. Maybe someone else Has a better opinion though :) regardless here is a link to that tutorial.

I would also look here in the howto's and wiki

Thank you.

Well, I am a fast learner and have some experienced help going into this ... so I won't be at a total loss, but if using ISPconfig helps with the "less experienced" - then I probably will go with it - at least to help.

Thanks, I will take a look at the website. :)

And yes, if anyone else has some options, ideas, extras that would be helpful to addon / use ... it would be greatful to hear from you.
